i went to cell space last night for the first time and i have to say that i was a little disappointed for a few reasons. i thought someone on here might care and use this info to help. i am not sure if this is cell space or the organizers of the cosm event or if they are both the same, but if you are going to not allow re-entry, you should tell people this at the door or not go to all the trouble of stamping people. this makes it look like you will be allowed to come and go and therefore, not bother asking before you enter. i had some things i planned on getting at the car and dropping off after being there for a little while. after buying posters and other things that i didnt want to have to take care of all night, to find that i cant leave made me a little upset. if i had known in advance, i wouldve done things different. i would not have left important things in the car. please let people know that when they enter, they will not be able to leave. i am kind of claustrophobic and didnt have as good of a time as i couldve because i was "trapped" without being able to go outside and get fresh air. i doubt that i will attend another event at cellspace because of this.
i am sorry if these are the rules, but i wanted to let someone know that not letting people know the rules upfront doesnt work. i was frustrated and i know others were frustrated too....
otherwise, thanks for hosting the event! it was beautiful!

Re: CoSM event
Mon, May 30, 2005 - 11:25 PMHi Star. I'm sorry to hear that you had trouble with re-entry. I wasn't working the CoSM event, nor am I resposible for such matters but I can, however tell you that the reason people were not let in afterwards is because a larger number of tickets than our capacity were sold and so, when the clicker went over halfway through the night, the security team decided not to risk being shut down by the fire marshall and waited for people to leave before letting more in. The logistics of this can get kind of rough when people come and go throughout the night and we stay at capacity. Every time I walked towards the door from the inside someone would tell me "no ins and outs" but maybe this person wasn't there when you exited. I do know that the policy of CELL security is to wait until some people leave and then let the people who have been waiting inside.
I suppose, after this happening its safe to say, that the occupancy limit at CELL is being reached more frequently, and when it does, you gotta either stick it out inside or wait a minute to come back in.... I hope that this doesn't keep you out of our space in the futre, you can be assured that the Events Cluster is doing what it can to accomidate the growing number of people attending events here. -

Re: CoSM event
Tue, May 31, 2005 - 4:04 PMwe got there at 10 and waited until they let people in at 11. i planned on taking pics and then returning my camera to the car so i wouldnt have to be burdened with it all night and could have a fun time dancing. unfortunately nobody was telling us when we first went in at 11 that we wouldnt be able to go out so i was left holding my camera all night.
oh well... alex's slideshow was worth every penny and i had fun just being there. -
